Shared Breath
A Quiet Moment with My Daughter
Face to face we lay
Sharing each other’s air
You breathe out
I breathe in
the sweet scent of youth
Aromatic and unassuming
Love’s full delight
You snuggle closer
Foreheads meet tenderly
Heads share a pillow
Blue bonnets peer at me
Like Spring Days ripe with curiosity
Unfolding in the lengthening light
Joy begins in a full heart
I am captivated
Comfort wrapped in quilts of safety
Silk-soft skin reaches out
Brushing chin, cheek, hair
Subdued, quiet moments
Showering peace
Like flowering dogwood blooms
Blowing gently from home
From my very being
Seed and fruit
entwined
A beginning and ending
wrapped up in one flesh
Daughter, you are God’s gift
Like water in the hand
Of one who thirsts
How blessed am I
To hold such treasure
(Psalm 127:4-5)

I love this line: You breathe out I breathe in the sweet scent of youth.... this brings me back to sweet shared moments with my children years ago. I think there are somethings a mother never forgets and always wants to remember.
That’s were that cold came from…: )))
